How to cook the perfect pork sausage

PAN FRY OVEN BAKE GRILL BBQ

Pan Fry Pork Sausages

Add one tsp of sunflower oil to your pan and preheat over a high heat for 30-60 seconds. Add the desired number of sausages to your pre-heated pan. They should start to sizzle straight away, This sizzling noise will start loud and then fades away. This is because you have added cold sausages to a hot pan, the sausages have cooled the pan down, but don't worry the heat will build up again and they should start to sizzle again within15-20 seconds. Once they have started to sizzle again, turn your hob to a medium heat, turn the sausages in the oil regularly. Turn each sausage keeping the pale side facing down to cook evenly. After 14 minutes sizzling over a medium heat and being turned regularly, your sausages should be fried perfectly.

Charcoal BBQ Pork Sausages

BBQ Prep

Start with a sheet of newspaper, screw it up into a ball and stand in the middle of the fire pit on your BBQ. Use small pieces of kindling to build a “wigwam” shape around your ball of newspaper. Light your newspaper, and let the fire take hold of the wood (fire lighting blocks or liquid can be used at this point if needed). Place 10-12 large pieces of charcoal on top of the “wigwam” being careful not to burn your hands. leave plenty of space for air to get into the fire. Leave the fire to ignite the charcoal. You will hear a slight crackling once it is ablaze, Add more charcoal to create a fire bed and then let it burn through until the flames have died down dn it is glowing orange. Once your charcoal bed is glowing, place your grill over the top( we found 15cm was a good height to have your grill above your charcoal bed. Prime your grills with a brush of cooking oil.

Lets BBQ

Add the desired number of pork sausages on your grill. If your BBQ has a lid, close it at this point to hold the temperature. Leave for 8 minutes. After 8 minutes open the lid and turn your sausages. From this point keep an eye on your sausages and keep turning the sausages as you see necessary, keeping the palest part of each sausage facing down towards to coals. Keep the BBQ lid closed when you are not turning your sausages. After 20 minutes, your pork sausages should bee ready.
