Truffle Mac n Cheese Beef Burger

Truffle Mac n Cheese Beef Burger
Prep time: 10 mins – Cook time:  20-25 mins – Serves: 2
Add some truffle mac n cheese to our Steak and Butter burger for extra decadence!

Ingredients:

2 Steak and Butter burgers

2 burger buns

Cheese (if you can get it, truffle cheese is delicious with this recipe!), enough slices for 2

Salad (optional)

For the mac ’n’ cheese:

2 generous handfuls of macaroni pasta

1 pack of bacon lardons

1 tsp of truffle oil

1 tube of Primula squeezy cheese

4 squares of American cheese, ripped into bits (the orange plastic!)

100ml milk

Salt and pepper, to taste 

For the truffle mayo:

2 tablespoons of mayonnaise

1 tsp of truffle oil

 

Method:

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C and get a pan of water on to boil. Heat a little oil in a frying pan and sear the burgers until they are browned on both sides. Place the burgers on a lined baking tray and put in the oven for 10 mins.
  2. While the burgers are cooking, cook the macaroni pasta. Fry the bacon lardons in a frying pan with a little truffle oil- this will add a truffle taste but won’t be overpowering.
  3. To make the cheese sauce, heat a tube of Primula/squeezy cheese in a small pan until melty, then drop in the ripped bits of cheese and whisk to combine. Add a little milk if too thick and season to taste. Mix with the pasta and bacon.
  4. For the truffle mayo, put 2 tablespoons of mayo in a little bowl with the truffle oil in and mix. Toast the bun if you like, then spread the mayo on both sides of the bun.
  5. Once the burgers are cooked through, add some sliced cheese and place back in the oven for 5-7 mins until the cheese has melted.
  6. Take the burgers out of the oven and add them to the toasted bun with some salad. Load the macaroni on top of the burger then top the burger with the lid.
  7. Enjoy this decadent burger!
